Amelia Marie Hunter

Amelia "Ame" Elliott Hunter, 69, of Charlotte, NC passed away Sunday, November 22, 2020, after a short illness, surrounded by her loved ones. Ame was a Charlotte native born October 2, 1951, she was the daughter of Elgerine Sitz Elliott and the late George Walker Elliott. She was a graduate of South Mecklenburg High School and attended East Carolina for two years before completing her Bachelor's from UNCC with a degree in Sociology. During her working years, Ame spent time at Mecklenburg County Department of Social Services, Manpower, Wrangler and retired from Recycled Greeting Cards. Her passions included traveling to Europe, trips to Folly Beach, listening to Jimmy Buffett and cooking fabulous dinners while enjoying a glass or two of Pinot Grigio with family and friends. Ame is survived by her husband of 41 years, Jack McCarrell Hunter, Jr.; two cat children "the Boys"; brother, Jeffrey Elliott and his wife, Kathi; and many more loving nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends who will miss her dearly. In addition to her father, Ame was preceded in death by her brother, Rusty. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of Charlotte, humanesocietyofcharlotte.org "Life is a journey that is measured not in miles, but in experience" - Jimmy Buffett. Ame's friends and family are so grateful to have been part of her journey. A private family service will be held at 3:30 PM Tuesday, December 1, 2020, at Covenant Presbyterian Church.
