Mrs. Dorothy Kemp of the Difficult Community died peacefully at the age of 87 at 3:50 a.m. Monday morning November 23, 2020 at the Pavilion in Lebanon where she had made her home since May 1, of 2017. She was pronounced deceased at 4:40 a.m. Private graveside services for the family were conducted Tuesday afternoon November 24th at 1 p.m. by Eld. Shawn Shepherd. Burial followed in section five at the Defeated Creek Memorial Gardens beside her husband of almost fifty seven years. Born Dorothy Jean Kemp in the Difficult Community on January 30, 1933, she was one of three daughters of the late Estle Ross “Turnip” Kemp who died September 28, 1965 at the age of 65 and Callie Beatrice Jones Kemp who died June 17, 1978 at the age of 77. A sister, Virginia Elizabeth Shepherd preceded her in death at the age of 88 on July 8, 2010. In Tompkinsville, Kentucky on October 21, 1950 she was united in marriage to McClures Bend Community native Loyd Neal “Tuck” Kemp who preceded her in death on August 9, 2007 at the age of 81. Mrs. Kemp retired in 2002 from the Texas Boot Co. in Carthage and became a full time housewife. Mrs. Kemp was saved as a teenager while in high school and was baptized into the full fellowship of the Defeated Creek Missionary Baptist Church in the Difficult Community. She attended Smith County high School and received her General Education Degree. Surviving is her daughter, Myrna Kemp of the Difficult Community; sister, Robbie Kemp Shepherd of the Tanglewood Community.
