James A. Moses

James A. Moses, 99, of Parsons, died at 12:40 p.m., Sunday, November 22, 2020 at the Elmhaven East Nursing Home in Parsons. He was born September 27, 1921 in Erie to James and Bertha (Kennedy) Moses. He attended school in St. Paul and graduated from the St. Paul High School. After high school he attended a watchmaker school in Kansas City. During World War II he served in the United States Navy. He later became active in the Brown-Bishop Post # 704 Veterans of Foreign Wars and served many years as a member of the funeral honor guard detail. James was employed 38 years at Dayton Superior in Parsons and was the head of his labor union. He also was co-owner and operated the M and M Mobile Home park. He and Katherine Richardson were married at Girard on December 24, 1942. They were married nearly 76 years at the time of her death on November 15, 2018. Surviving are three children, Barbara Moses Kyle of Parsons, Mark Moses (Sara) of Springdale, Arkansas and Shelley Moses Reed (Steve) of Greenwood Village, Colorado; a daughter-in-law, Judi Moses of Vacaville, California; five grandchildren, Cole Kyle, A.J. Moses, Morgan Moses, Sam Moses and Matt Reed and a great-grandchild London Moses; a sister, Charlotte Moses of St. Paul and a brother, Herb Moses, who died Monday, November 23. He was preceded in death by his son, Doug Moses, who died March 6, 2018 and a brother, Loyd Moses. James loved his family very much. He was a gardener and antique collector and enjoyed country western dancing, fishing, hunting and trapping. The family would like to give special thanks to the loving and caring staff at Elmhaven East for the love and support they have given James over the last few years. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 25, 2021 at the Memorial Lawn Cemetery Patio with Rev. Wayne Mason officiating. Burial will follow in the cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Brown-Bishop Post # 704, Veterans of Foreign War. They may be left at or sent to the Carson-Wall Funeral Home at Box 942, Parsons, KS 67357.
