<p>NOV 22, 2020 MARY E. (MARYELLEN) BROWN, passed away at Reading Hospital, Reading PA, after a short illness. Maryellen was born Mary Ellen Brandt, in Campbelltown, PA, on February 23, 1935. Her parents were Mary E. (Hallman) Brandt and Lester Grady Brandt. Maryellen was a graduate of Hershey High School and attended Catawba College (NC) for a brief time. Maryellen is survived by two daughters, Cynthia (Xun) Shao, Cristen Brown (Steve Kubacki) and a son, Clay Brown (Barbara Ray). She is predeceased by her parents and her twin brother, Lester G. Brandt and has a surviving sister, Patricia A. Brandt, of Palmyra, PA. &nbsp;Maryellen received an Associates Degree from RACC (Reading Area Community College, Reading, PA) and for many years worked in the field of special needs care. She assisted clients with activities of daily living and entertainment, and worked for Threshold (Adult Day Training) and Supportive Concepts, both in Reading, PA. Maryellen was a true advocate for the rights of the differently abled, and insisted that her clients have access to all rights and privileges available to anyone.</p> <p>Maryellen enjoyed music and art and shared that love of same with her children and friends. She was especially known for being a fan of Bob Dylan, and of opera. She instilled in her children a love of the visual and performing arts, as well as a love of nature and animals. She also enjoyed her grandchildren, Nick (Traci) Kubacki, Markell Kubacki, Hans Brown, William Brown, Adam Shao, and Valerie Shao; as well as her great-grandsons, Kayden and Carter Kubacki. Knitting and cooking were just two way she showed love for her family and friends.</p> <p>The family would like to thank the staff and chaplains of Tower Health, Reading Hospital for their care in her final days.</p> <p>In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a local pet rescue organization.
