James T “Jim” Carter

April 10, 1935 - November 21, 2020

James T “Jim” Carter, a native of Birmingham, AL, passed away November 21, 2020 at the age of 85. James is survived by his loving wife, Berthena “Grace” Carter; his daughter, Beverly Pritchard; his son, James “Jimmy” Carter (Sissy); grandchildren, Josh Pritchard (Amber), Elizabeth Felix (Felix); great grandchildren, Bryson, Mason, Weston, Jasmine, and Christian. James served in the US Marine Corps. After serving in the US Marine Corps, he joined the US Army as part of US Airborne 82nd, 101st, and 11th Divisions and served for 21 years, eventually retiring. James also retired from the Mobile County Sheriff’s Department where he served for 21 years. He was a member of the ABBA Temple Shriners, the Masonic Loop Lodge #895 F&AM. James was a member of the Cypress Shores Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and a friend to many. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations can be made to The American Lung Association or Parkinson’s Foundation. Visitation will be held November 25, 2020 at 11am with Funeral Service to follow at 12pm at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Interment will be immediately to follow at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
