Margie Nell White Obituary

Reflections of Margie’s Life On April 20th 1935 in Slick, Oklahoma a baby girl was born. She was the eleventh child of fifteen children born to Lucinda and Joseph Jefferson. They named her Margie Nell. Margie spent her formative years growing up and attending school in Tulsa. She attended Booker T. Washington High School, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She would later meet Augusta White. This union produced three lovely girls: Gwendolyn Rose, Brenda Kaye and Charlotte Ann. Margie accepted Christ at an early age. In the church, she discovered her love of music and her beautiful voice. Margie was a devoted Christian. She always felt as if her voice was a gift from God. That gift carried her spirit over the years and blessed many people. Margie sang in gospel groups and performed in many churches all over the country. Margie joined Church of the Living God. That was her church home while raising her girls. Any given Sunday, you could hear our Margie leading the choir in song. She used that lovely voice until her last days. Margie was known to be a very sharp and classy lady. She had a decorative spirit and it showed throughout her life. Everything about her including her work, homemaking style and choice of clothing spelled classy lady. It definantly was some of the things that was loved about her so. But, Marge will be most remembered for how she treated people and loved her family. Family was the most precious thing to her. When she was married to Edward Smith Margie would raise Joycie and Jackie in her home. She affectionately called her girls Margie’s “Girls”. All of Margie’s “Girls” remain together and were by her side right up until her home going. Margie was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter Gwen; two sisters and nine brothers. She leaves to cherish her beautiful memories over four generations of children including: two daughters: Kaye Kaye and Charlotte; nine grandchildren: Dawn, Joycelyn, Jackie, Christopher, Michelle, Robert, Dennis, Tanisha and Courtney; twenty-five great grandchildren; thirteen great great-grandchildren; two sisters: Vernell and Martha; one brother Mathew and a host of nieces and nephews, extended family members, church family and friends. Margie was loved and truly will be missed.
