David Eugene "Gene" Hutchison

David Eugene “Gene” Hutchison was born October 4, 1942 to Robert Hershell and Opal Jaunita (Anglen) Hutchison in Wheeler, TX, and passed away November 21, 2020, in Sayre, OK, at the age of 78 years, 1 month and 17 days. Gene, the second of 5 children, grew up and attended school in Wheeler. At a very early age, he met the love of his life, Loneta Ann Caswell, and they were married on January 7, 1962. They had two daughters, Genna and Terry. Gene was a Carpenter by trade and his work took the family across the Texas panhandle where they lived in several towns, including Wheeler, Pampa and Canadian. Gene and Loneta eventually opened an upholstery shop in Elk City, OK, which they operated for many years before moving to Sayre to make their home. They always made time for family and enjoyed spending time with them boating, water skiing, and riding dirt bikes almost every weekend. They also enjoyed riding motorcycles and had traveled all over the U.S. and parts of Canada with good friends and other members of the Good Timers Motorcycle Club. After Gene was no longer able to ride, camping and fishing became their passion. Although Sayre was their home, they spent months each year at Lake Fork, TX, and Lake Eufaula, OK, until Gene’s health forced them to stay home. Gene was baptized at the age of 19 at the Wheeler First Baptist Church. For the past few years, he attended Trinity Fellowship of Sayre where he looked forward to going to services as his health permitted. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Opal; his wife of over 58 years, Loneta; and 2 brothers, Hershel and Darrell. He is survived by 2 daughters: Genna Jones, Terry Billey and her husband, Carl, all of Sayre, OK; 1 brother, James Hutchison and his wife, Judy, of Kingfisher, OK; 1 sister, Januita Shugart of Shamrock, TX; 6 grandchildren: Alyson Billey of Elk City, OK; Jenny Crawford of Sayre, OK; Ty Billey of Durham, OK; Lendell Jones of Sacramento, CA; Janet McNabb and her husband, Jeremy, of Salisbury, MD; and Chris Jones of Sayre, OK; 5 great grandchildren: MaryAnn Crawford, Ewel Holley, Illya, Aurelia and Astoria McNabb; his brother-in-law, Wayne Caswell and his wife, Mickie, of Elk City, OK; his sister-in-law, Donna Caswell of Pampa, TX; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, many other relatives, very special friends, Howard and Leslie Lowry and family, and a host of other friends. The family would like to recognize and thank his loving and very dedicated caregivers from Lifespring Hospice, Keri Hall, Christina Clouse, and Teresa May. Funeral Services will be held 10:00 am, Wednesday, November 25, 2020, at the Trinity Fellowship in Sayre with Andy Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in the White Rose Cemetery, Reydon, Oklahoma.
