Allan Otter Obituary

Allan James Otter, age 73, of McCook, NE passed away on Sunday, November 22, 2020 at Lakeside CHI in Omaha, NE.

Allan was born on March 26, 1947 in New Almelo, Kansas to Leo and Agnes (Bruggeman) Otter.  He was one of twelve children born to this union. Allan attended school in Leoville, KS.  He furthered his education at Dodge City Community College and St. Mary’s of the Plains, obtaining a bachelor’s degree in education. 

Allan married Jody A. (Malleck) Otter on September 22, 1979 in McCook.  To this union, two children were born. The family made their home in McCook where Allan worked for Ideal Truck Line, delivering freight for over twenty-two years, and later with Pepsi.   

Allan was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church as well as the Knights of Columbus.  He enjoyed gardening, spending time with his grandchildren and watching sports, especially Kansas City Royals Baseball. 

Allan was preceded in death by his parents; sister-in-law, Esther Otter; and brother in law, Verle Knepper.

Allan is survived by his wife, Jody Otter of McCook, NE; son Brandon and wife Lindsay Otter of McCook; daughter, Megan and husband David Winterfeldt of Colorado Springs, CO; four grandchildren, Kaiden, Jaxyn, Kooper and Beckett; four brothers, Larry Otter of South Carolina, Norbert (Jeanette) Otter of Kansas, Nick (Kathy) Otter of Kansas and Jerome (Karen) Otter of Arizona; seven sisters, Sue (Bill) Sughroue of Nebraska, Rebbeca Otter of Kansas, Cecilia Knepper of Nebraska, Rita (Joe) Martin of Idaho, Judy (Darrel) Schuler of Kansas, Loretta (Norbert) Flax of Kansas and Theresa (Jim) Bird of Kansas; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
