Raymond “Eddie” Lankford, 66, of Crescent City, passed from this life on Friday, November 20, 2020 at Shands - UF Health in Gainesville. A native of Waycross, Georgia, Eddie lived back and forth between Georgia and Putnam County since the 1970’s. Prior to a motorcycle accident in 1997 that left him a paraplegic, Eddie worked as a quality control supervisor at Georgia Pacific Paper Mill. In years past, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and scuba diving. Eddie cherished time spent with his family. He was also an avid Georgia Bulldog fan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Macy Lankford and a son-in-law, Brian Barfield. Eddie is survived by his wife of 35 years, Diane Lankford of Crescent City, 7 daughters, Melissa Dempsey (Michael) of Apopka, Amanda Barfield (Ira Wilson) of Inverness, Julie Graham (Neil) of Interlachen, Laura Lankford of Waycross, GA, Victoria Frauenhofer (Tim) of Georgetown, Robin Lankford of Palatka and Rachel Lankford of Fruitland, a sister, Deborah Henderson (Eddie) of Waycross, GA, 2 brothers Greg Lankford and James Lankford both of Waycross, GA and 17 grandchildren. Services celebrating Eddie’s life will be at 6:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Palatka. The family will receive friends Tuesday at the funeral home from 5:00 P.M. until the time of services. Due to Covid 19 concerns, all attending are required to wear a facial covering and practice social distancing.
