Louise M Schermerhorn Obituary

Louise M. Schermerhorn, 83, of Jefferson, passed away early Saturday morning, November 21, 2020. Born on August 14, 1937 in Catskill, she was the daughter of the late Clayton and Goldie (Oakley) Andrus. Louise was married to Otis B. Schermerhorn on September 16, 1956, a union that lasted 53 years until his passing on August 3, 2010. She worked as a supervisor for several years at Audio Sears in Stamford prior to her retirement. Louise enjoyed spending time tending to her flower beds and gardens, watching soap operas, bird watching, doing word search puzzles and listening to country music. Louise’s greatest passion was her family, she loved getting everyone together and enjoyed the time she spent with her family and friends. Louise is survived by her children: Joanne (Gary) Bellinger, Brenda (Boomer) Harris and Otis (Maureen) Schermerhorn; grandchildren: Gary (Desiree) Bellinger, Jr., Theresa (Brad) Dean, Jennifer (Doug) Cole and Cory (Jordan) Schermerhorn; several great-grandchildren; siblings: Ernest (Sandra) Andrus, Robert (Karen) Andrus, Sr., Walter (Jennifer) Nichols, Linda (Chris) Hupp, Fred (Debra) Oakley and Loretta Oakley Hastick; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive. Calling hours will be held from 2-4PM on Saturday, November 28, 2020 at the MacArthur Funeral Home, 15 Buntline Drive, Stamford. COVID-19 will require that all in attendance wear a mask and maintain social distancing.
