CARTHAGE – Marlene J. “Snookie” Weaver, 72, of S. Mechanic St., passed away on Thursday, November 19, 2020 at her home. Marlene was born on July 21, 1948 in Carthage, New York, daughter of the late Curtis J. and Mary Jane (Borzon) Lane. She graduated from Lowville Academy and went on to work at Lollie’s in Herrings as well as the Carthage Laundromat for a time. A marriage to Gilbert Barlow ended in divorce. A later marriage to Walter Weaver Jr. also ended in divorce. Marlene enjoyed crossword puzzles, rummage sales and caring for her plants. Most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren. Survivors include six children, Brenda (John) Chubb of Virginia; Mike (Debbie) Flint of Connecticut; Lisa (Brian Trombley) Lane of Carthage; Todd Lane of Connecticut; Mary Jane (Barron Cromartie) Barlow of Carthage; and Carrie Lynn Ward of Carthage; five siblings, Virginia “Ginger” Lane of Texas; Cecil Payne of Texas; Anna Lane of Carthage; Barbara Payne of Carthage; and David Lane of Evans Mills; 17 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, a sister Mary Jane, a brother, and a nephew. Due to the increasing rates of COVID-19, no public services will be held.
