Robert "Bob" Lee Wietzema, age 68, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Sunday, November 22, 2020, at the local hospital.  Private Family Funeral Service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 28, 2020.  Pastor Paul Janke will officiate.  The funeral service will be live streamed via Facebook Live and on our YouTube page.  Face covering are encouraged.  

Public visitation will be at the Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown on Friday, November 27, 2020, from 4-7 p.m. 

Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Tom Decker, Mike Riley, Jim Kriz, Kelly Stavig, Pat Good, Mark Strohfus and Marty Stroshiem.  Honorary Pallbearers will be all of Bob’s friends at the Legion.

Robert Lee Wietzema was born to Sievert and Alida (Hassebroek) Wietzema in Sheldon, IA, on November 9, 1952.  He attended school in the Sibley, IA area and obtained his GED.  Bob continued his education at South East Technical College in Sioux Falls, SD where he mastered the trade of refrigeration and heating. 

Bob married Sandra Schmid on October 9, 1971, in Sisseton, SD.  The couple lived in several cities eventually calling Watertown, SD home.  They had two children Steven and Samantha.  Bob had his own business called “Bob’s Refrigeration and Heating” which kept him busy for many years until he was semi-retired due to health complications.  Also while running his own business he was the service technician for McDonald’s.  Bob enjoyed the South Dakota outdoors of fishing and hunting and especially enjoyed all the time with his grandchildren. 

Bob is survived by his wife Sandra of Watertown, SD; daughter Samantha (Travis) Maag of Florence, SD; daughter-in-law Kristi Wietzema of Watertown, SD; brothers Fred (Judy) Wietzema of Worthington, MN, Harold (Alice) Wietzema of Worthington, MN, Daryl Wietzema of Wahpeton, ND, Ronald Wietzema of Mesa, AZ, and Sievert (Lucy) Wietzema Jr. of Fargo, ND; sisters Lillian Jepsen of Sisseton, SD, Linda (Daniel) Joaquine, Janet (Butch) Nelson of Wahpeton, ND, and Annie (Jim) Lampbert of Watertown, SD; grandchildren Alexandrea Legg, Shelby, Brianna, and Hunter Wietzema, Grace and Summer Maag.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents; son Steven Wietzema; and three brothers.
