Grace L. Lockhart

BOARDMAN, OHIO – Grace L. Lockhart, 90, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away Saturday, November 22, 2020 at Vibra Hospital in Boardman.

Grace was born in Tyler County, WV on October 12, 1930 a daughter of the late John W. and Iva (Walker) Mercer.

Grace went to Tyler County High School and was a member of the Baptist Church in East Liverpool. One of her greatest joys in life were her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved bowling, playing cards, puzzles, reading and watching football games especially the Cleveland Browns. Grace really enjoyed gardening.

Preceding Grace in death were her husband, whom she married December 9, 1949, Robert L. Lockhart on September 17, 1977; five sisters Cora Booher, Freda Armstrong, Elaine Rose, Sadie Deval, and Esta Smith and two brothers Brady and James Mercer.

Left to cherish her memory are two sons Robert Mitchell Lockhart and his wife Helen of Newport News, VA and John Lockhart and his wife Marian of East Liverpool; four granddaughters Haidee McKain and her husband Mark of Newport News, VA, Crystal Adams and her husband Geoffrey of Charlotte, NC, Shanna Glatz and her husband Keith of Fairfax Station, VA and Cheryl Boggess and her husband Brian of Lake Wiley, SC; seven great grandchildren Garrett Glatz, Tillie Glatz, Frannie Glatz, Mackenzie Boggess, Beckham Boggess, Cooper Boggess and Addison McKain and brother Homer Mercer and his wife Phyllis of East Liverpool.

Also surviving are her best friend and next-door neighbors Don and Marlene Reynolds.

A committal service will be held in the chapel at Columbiana County Memorial Park 10 a.m. Friday. Arrangements entrusted to the Dawson Funeral Home. In compliance with Ohio state regulations with concerns of the COVID-19 virus masks must be worn at all times in the cemetery chapel.
