Rebecca Kay Farkas, (Rebecca Byrd, Becky, Mimi) 60 years old, of Livonia Michigan passed away on November 20, 2020 peacefully and surrounded by family.

 

Rebecca was born in Wayne Michigan on July 24, 1960 to Richard and Ethel Byrd.

 

She graduated from John Glenn High School.

 

Becky was married to Christopher Farkas (Chris) on December 4, 1982. They were married 37 years and they have 2 children.

 

Becky worked in the food service industry her whole life. Her final position was Assistant Director for Ovations Dining Services. Ovations  provides food service for the priests on site, students of the seminary, food and beverages for all meetings, specialty classes, gatherings, ordinations, and organizational meetings at Sacred Heart Seminary.

 

She truly loved having family and friends over for dinners and holidays, was an active motorcyclist, and loved being Mimi to her granddaughters.

 

She is survived by her husband Chris, son Travis, daughter in law Krista, daughter Stephanie, Stephanie’s boyfriend Gary Swanson, granddaughters Lily, Alyssa, Hannah, Ivy Mae, and the new one on the way. She is also survived by sister Janet Kemp, brother Rick Byrd and wife Debi, brother Jeff Byrd and wife Donna, and sister in law Kathy Byrd.

 

She was preceded in death by father Richard, mother Ethel, sister Sharon Kay, brother Dave.

 

Instead of flowers the family requests that you make a donation in her name to a charity that you are passionate about. Gleaners Community Food Bank, Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries, Capuchin Soup Kitchen, Grace Center of Hope, Covenant House, Sacred Heart Seminary, or a local animal rescue or shelter, are some of the organizations she frequently donated to.

 

Visitation for Rebecca will be held Tuesday, November 24th from 3:00 - 8:00 PM at Manns Family Funeral Home.

 

Final visiting for Rebecca will be held Wednesday, November 25th from 10:00 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 AM at Manns Family Funeral Home, 17000 Middlebelt, Livonia 48154.
