Garland Edward Hinkle, Jr. was born April 21, 1940 in Salina, Kansas to Irene Mae ( Williams) and Garland Edward Hinkle, Sr. He passed away Friday November 20, 2020 at Altus, Oklahoma at the age of 80 years, 6 months and 30 days. Garland grew up in Salina, Kansas where he attended school and graduated in 1958. After graduation he furthered his education at Kansas State University where, after 6 years, graduated with his degree in Veterinarian Medicine (D.V.M.). Garland practiced most of his 50 years of veterinarian medicine in Sayre, Oklahoma with exception of a short stint in Missouri and Elk City, Oklahoma. In 1961 Garland married Kay McAninch, and to this union four children were born. On December 27, 1984 he was married to Sue (Carlile) Hinkle at Sayre, Oklahoma. Together they continued to make Sayre their home where they raised their family. Garland enjoyed fishing, quail hunting with his bird dogs, golfing and playing poker with his friends. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Larry Hinkle, nephew, Toby Engle and one grandson, Drake Snider Carlile. Garland is survived by his wife, Sue, of the home; his children, Mike and Vicki Hinkle, Missy Carlat, Janet and Tommy Easter and Sam and Karen Hinkle; Sue's children, Rick and Lorri Carlile, Stephen and Tandi Carlile, Heather and Scott (#1) Grabeal; grandsons, Colby Hager, Cole Hinkle, Mason Hinkle, Tanner Carlat, Tyler Carlile, Lathan Grabeal, Caden Carlile, Chase Carlile, Conrad Carlile, Boston Carlile, Mac Carlile and Kingston Carlile; granddaughters, Tristyn Cole, Nikki Hager, Kensi Hinkle, Kaley Carlat, Kate Grabeal, Kassy Bonham, Kory Easter and Karly Easter; 6 great grandchildren, Ryeitt Cole, Breck Cole, June Hager, Jagger Hager, Braxton Hinkle and Brantley Longbine; 1 sister, Sue Engle and husband, Chuck and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at the Sayre Gymnasium officiated by Dennis Knight. Burial will be held at Sayre-Doxey Cemetery under the direction of Chris Whinery and the staff of Affordable Cremation Service-West.
