Constance "Connie" (Kilcoyne) Childs

METHUEN - Constance "Connie" (Kilcoyne) Childs, 84, of Methuen passed away Saturday evening at Holy Family Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Connie was born in Lawrence, on August 19, 1936 to the late Cornelius and Cora (Murphy) Kilcoyne. Connie was a graduate of St. Mary's Grammar School and St. Mary's High School. As a child, she was a role model for her two younger sisters. She was considered the perfect child, embodying responsible behavior and exceptional academic skills. Connie was employed by the City of Methuen. Most recently she served as Town Treasurer for many years prior to her retirement. Always loving her community and co-workers, after her retirement, Connie assisted fellow retirees with their health insurance needs. In addition, she coordinated luncheons for retired city employees for many years. Connie was a resident of Methuen for over sixty years. She enjoyed summers at her home in Hampton Beach, which included long drives up the coast to enjoy the scenery and cloud formations. A devoted and loving mother and grandmother, Connie was the quintessential caretaker and provider for her children and extended family. The widow of the late Donald Childs, Connie is survived by her son Paul Childs and his wife Jodi, of Derry, New Hamphire, and her daughter Anne DeLuca and her husband David, of Salem, New Hampshire. She was predeceased by her son, Michael Childs. Connie is also survived by her four cherished grandchildren, David and Kristin DeLuca, and Paul and Lauren Childs. Also among her survivors are her two sisters Ann Ferrara of Methuen and Elaine Vermette of Salem, New Hampshire as well as several nieces and nephews. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Michael's Church, 196 Main Street, North Andover. A private family burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen.
