Kenneth Gene Gonya, beloved father, son, brother, uncle and friend, passed away Saturday, November 21, 2020. He was born September 3, 1968, in Houlton, the son of Ernest Gonya and Sylvia (Grant) Gonya Forte. Ken grew up in Houlton and graduated from Houlton High School in 1987. He was employed by the Shiretown as a bar manager and bartender. He was also employed by the Houlton Water Company as a water operator. Ken prided himself on being honest and having a positive attitude on life. During Ken's battle with cancer his attitude was an inspiration to others. He is survived by his mother Sylvia Forte of Houlton, his father Ernest Gonya of Houlton, three children: Walker Webb and his fiancé Cate Baker of Littleton, Zachary Gonya and Bridgette Gonya both of Houlton, as well as a grandson Weston Webb of Littleton. Ken also leaves behind four siblings: Kimberly Bridges of Woodville, Laurie Forte Jones and her husband Scott of Okeechobee, FL, Karen Gonya of Presque Isle, Robert Forte of Memphis, TN, three nieces and a nephew. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents Kenneth and Lorraine Grant, his paternal grandparents Wilbert and Dora Gonya and a sister Cindy Lou Gonya. Ken had incredible support from many during his battle with cancer. The family is particularly grateful for the team at Northern Light Cancer Care in Presque Isle and his former co-workers at the Houlton Water Company. Due to COVID Restrictions the funeral services will be private. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Houlton.
