Dr. Edward Anthony Schwanderla passed away quietly in his home on November 21, 2020. Born June 9, 1932 to Anthony and Genevieve (Sikorski). He was raised in Jamaica, New York. He attended Bishop Loughlin High School, Manhattan College (BS) where he then enlisted in the Marine Corps. He served as a 1st Lieutenant from 1950-1953. He later attended Temple University College of Dentistry (DDS) and completed a residency at the VA Hospital in Montrose, NY. He held professional appointments at White Plains Hospital, Pleasantville Cottage School and New York Hospital in White Plains. He opened his dental practice in White Plains in 1963 and retired in 2004. He was a sincere caregiver and devoted his livelihood to his family and patients. He nursed his wife through a difficult illness which demonstrated his love and compassion.
Edward is predeceased by his wife Cynthia (Acconci) and three infant children. They were married on his birthday, June 9, 1956. He is survived by his children Edward Justin and James J (Lisa) and his only grandchild Jaclyn.
He was a Life member of The American Dental Association, The New York State Dental Association, Ninth District Dental Association and White Plains Dental Forum.
He enjoyed playing golf whenever he could and was a member of Westchester Hills Golf Club in White Plains from 1968-1991. He always had time for conversation and loved to learn about the people he spoke with.
