Robert L. Metrick

Robert L. Metrick, Sr., 73, of Hamilton, passed away on Friday, November 20, 2020, at Park Place Center in Monmouth Junction, NJ. Born in Trenton, NJ he was a lifelong area resident. After high school, Robert volunteered to go into the U.S. Army, during his service he volunteered to go over to Vietnam to fight beside his brothers in war. He served as a Corporal who ran night maneuvers, driving trucks to deliver artillery and supplies that were needed. When he left the army, he worked for Firestone, located in Hightstown, for 8 years. Due to injury while in the army, he spent the rest of his life as a Disabled Veteran. Robert loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed going out to eat at the Chinese buffets and Olive Garden’s Never-Ending Pasta, watching HBO and Netflix, and playing the free slot machine games on his iPad. Predeceased by his parents, Anna (Baker) and Louis Metrick, Sr.; his wife, Josephine R. (Genovay) Metrick; his son, Robert L. Metrick Jr.; his brother, Louis Metrick, Jr.; his sister, Marie Silva and his brother-in-law, Ernest Genovay; he is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Michelle Metrick-Willetts and David Willetts; his son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Laura Metrick Jr.; his grandson, Anthony Metrick; his two nieces, Shannon Genovay and Ella Clark; and his nephews, Thomas Kamping and Jason Clark. A Memorial Gathering for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, November 25, 2020, from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. with a Memorial Service at 8:30 p.m. at the Saul Colonial Home, 3795 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square, NJ. Due to funeral restrictions, the staff at the Saul Colonial Home, respectfully requests that all funeral attendees please wear a face covering of some kind during the services for Robert. We appreciate your cooperation and thank you.
