Beverly Carol Shuman

Beverly Carol Buckler Shuman (Bonnie) age 73, passed away on November 21, 2020 peacefully at her daughter’s home in Clio, Michigan, after a long fight with vascular dementia and blindness from glaucoma. Her unwavering faith in God along with love e and prayers from friends and family carried her through. She was born to Calvert Carroll Buckler, Jr. and Clara Tucker Buckler of North Beach of Calvert County, MD. on August 3 1947. They both preceded in death on December 27, 2009 and February 3, 2003. She was also preceded in death suddenly by her husband Duane William Shuman on January 19, 2012. They were married on March 10, 1971 in Newfane NY. They were married for 41 years. They spent most of their time together in Clinton, MD. where they raised their two children Angela Faith Shuman (Norris) Charles W. Norris (spouse) and Aaron Wade Shuman (spouse) and Breanna Lovie as well as her grandchildren Arianna, Tyler, and Addison. She was so proud of how they were being raised and adored all of her grandchildren. Her daughter by marriage Laurie Lynn Blunk (spouse) Scott Blunk. Bonnie was always grateful for her daughter Laurie for always making sure she had everything she needed and her affairs were in order. She made sure Christmas and Birthday’s were done and so many other thoughtful things. Mom always said she appreciated all she did and thought of her as her daughter. We appreciate all our sister has done! She is survived by her loving brother Gregory M. Buckler. She looked forward to their weekly talks. This may seem so small but she needed this encouragement so much! She loved him very much! Bonnie graduated from Calvert High School in 1965. She was a medical secretary for many years. She was a longtime member of Independent Baptist Church in Clinton MD where she worked in the cafeteria to make sure her kids could go to a private school. We are so greatful for her sacrifice. She loved to listen to her books on tape and talking to friends and family on the phone. Our mom had eight miscarriages before she had us. I know this is not something people talk about but it is important to understand what she went through to bring her children into the world. She always told me how special I was and that she wouldn’t change a thing about me. She was my biggest supporter and best friend. One funny memory I have when I was a child was when my dad asked her why she was only eating a salad for dinner ? She told him that she was on a diet. Earlier that day we had binged on Ho Ho’s. This became a joke between us for year’s. I couldn’t have asked for a better mom. I am very grateful I was able to bring her to live with me. She lived in Apple Valley, CA. when her husband suddenly passed in 2012. She lives with her grandson Justin and his wife Heather along with their three children. Charli was almost 11, Alex was 8 and Rylie was 2 years old. They needed a place to live and mom needed a caregiver. They took care of her for eight year’s even though it wasn’t always easy they couldn’t have done a better job. I think because of the great care and love she was given I think we were able to have more time with her! On behalf of the rest of the family we would like to thank them on taking care of our mom and Grandmother by marriage. We can never express our gratitude. The children gave our mom so much laughter and joy at a very difficult time after losing her husband. O'Guinn Family Funeral Homes Clio Chapel (810) 686-5070
