Marie M. Murphy, 91, of McCleary Avenue, Amsterdam, NY; passed away November 20, 2020 at River Ridge Living Center in Amsterdam. Born in Cohoes, NY May 16, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Aldea Vincent Lajeunesse. Marie received her education at St. Mary’s Institute and graduated in 1947. Marie was a homemaker. Marie and her late husband, John retired to Homestead, Florida in 1989 and enjoyed traveling with friends. Marie was a parishioner and communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Amsterdam. She was an active and sustaining member of St. Mary’s Hospital Auxiliary, St. Mary’s Institute Home and School Association, Irish American Club and Ladies of the Moose. Marie was married to John P. Murphy Jr. April 14, 1951. Sadly, John passed away last week November 13, 2020. Marie is survived by three sons, Thomas Murphy (Clare) of Edinburg, NY; Richard Murphy of Amsterdam and Jack Murphy (Deborah) of Schenectady, NY; three daughters, Jean Allen (Jack) of Amsterdam, Donna Murphy Houlihan of Edinburg and Anne Shelton (Brian) of Ballston Lake, NY and one sister, Irene Musick (Late Ross) of Acton, MA; twelve grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews also survive. Marie was also predeceased by one brother, Eugene Lajeunesse and a sister, Eleanor Smith. There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at a later date and time and will be announced on a future date. Interment will take place at St. Mary’s cemetery, Fort Johnson, NY.
