Archie L. Harper, 79, of N. Thomas Street, Carlsbad, NM, passed away November 19, 2020 at his home. Visitation will be 4 PM – 7 PM, Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Visitation will be limited to five people in the chapel at a time and facial coverings are required. Private services will be held.

Archie was born September 8, 1941 in Tahoka, Texasto Virgil and Lorene (Crouch) Harper. He served his country in the U.S. Navy. Archie married Sonja Matthews June 5, 1964 in Artesia. They moved to Carlsbad in 1973. Archie worked in the potash mines as an electrician for many years. He loved fishing, boating, camping and dancing. Archie cherished his family and always enjoyed spending time with them. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sonja D. Harper and sister, Martha Lee.

Survivors are his sons: Vince Harper and Trent Harper and wife, Michelle; grandchildren: Ashlyn Harper, Austin Harper, Matthew Harper and wife, Brynda, Kelsey Hudson and husband, Drew, Sidney Harper, Haden Harper, Malerie Harper, Zachary Harper and Hannah Harper; great-grandchildren: Kay’Lee, Cinch, Kage, Coy, Teagan, Brielle, Garett; siblings: Vernon Harper, Kathy Hampton and husband, Donnie, Kenneth Harper and wife, Becky and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
