Norma Jean Rutheford

Norma Jean Rutherford, age 85, of Beechwood Acres, Glenville, died in the early morning hours of November 18, 2020.  She was surrounded by her four children and son-in-law, Randy Wilson.  She had been under the care of WV Caring since February 2020.She was born May 21, 1935, the youngest child of John B. and Rosa A. (Stewart) Willis.  She is the last surviving member of her immediate family. On December 15, 1957, she married Charles W. Rutherford, who preceded her in death.  She was a loving mother to Marcia Drake of Buckhannon, Cindy Wilson, and husband Randy of Glenville, Chuck Rutherford, and wife Crystal, of Buckhannon, and Teresa Rutherford of Niles,OH. She is survived by grandsons, Brad Drake, Mitchell Greynolds and Bobby Bush, and granddaughters, Jenny Drake, Amanda Zachos, Ashley Smith,and Cheyenne Higgins, as well as numerous great-great-great-grandchildren.  Other than her parents, husband, and siblings,she was predeceased by one grandson, Joshua Dean Hanifan. Although a homemaker most of her life, she was a nurse’s aide in the early years, and also worked at Kinney Shoe Plant in Glenville.  Friends and family remember her as a hard-worker and a great cook.  Her tall,fluffy biscuits were legendary.  But, it was her love of God, and her unconditional love of her children and grandchildren that she will be best remembered. She was a member of Glenville Community Church. A graveside committal service will be conducted at Moss Cemetery,on Little Bull Run in Gilmer County, by Stump Funeral Home & Cremation,Inc., Grantsville, WV on November 28, 2020, at 2 p.m.  Her son-in-law, Randy Wilson will officiate.  Her request for cremation will be honored.In light of the Covid-19 pandemic, masks and social distancing are requested.  Also, as difficult as it will be, hugs are discouraged for safety reasons.
