Maria Silvas Obituary

Maria Silvas, 77, of Idaho Falls, passed away November 18, 2020, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. 

Maria was born April 22, 1943, in San Saba, Texas, to Trinidad Martinez and Carmen Guzman.  She grew up and attended schools in Richland Springs, Texas.

In June 1961, she married Miguel Vasquez Silvas in Texas. Maria and Miguel made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where Maria was a homemaker and loving wife and mother to her eight children. Miguel passed away on June 24, 2019. They were married for almost 60 years.

She was a member of the Catholic Church. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking, shopping, Facebook, and especially spending time with her kids and grandkids. She loved White Diamonds perfume and wore it often.

Maria is survived by her loving children, Ester (Rogelio) Torres of Idaho Falls, Miguel (Wendi) Silvas Jr. of Littlefield, TX, Andres (Socorro) Silvas of Howe, ID, Javier Silvas of St. Anthony, ID, David (Leonor) Silvas of Kalamazoo, MI, Carlos (Leticia) Silvas of Phoenix, AZ, Jose (Korina) Silvas of Idaho Falls, Estevan (Brittany) Silvas of Idaho Falls; sisters, Lucia Coronado, Frances Silvas, Dominga Estrada, Eugenia Estrada, Jesusita Martinez, Gregoria Balderas, Cruz Elena Martinez, and Antonia Lopez; brothers, Juan and Santos Martinez; 32 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Trinidad and Carmen Martinez; and sisters, Angelita Hernandez, Guadalupe Silvas, Abelina Lovato, and Margaret Saenz.

A Rosary will be held Tuesday from 6:30-7 p.m. with a visitation to follow until 8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road. Burial will be in the Lewisville Cemetery.
