Obituary
Lee “Hedgehog” Lanier, age 77, was a devoted husband, father, and papa. Lee was a longtime resident of Clay county and passed away peacefully at home on November 19, 2020 with family by his side. He was born March 21, 1943 and grew up in Miami, Florida. Lee started Lanier and Associates, a food brokerage company, in 1975, and retired in 2008. He was a member of several organizations including Morocco Shriners, The Scottish Rite, and Hyde Park Lodge #370. He was also a former member of the Orange Park Rotary Club. He loved golfing and boating, but his true passion was for motorcycles, which he enjoyed with his friends well into his seventies. He married Gloria Stubbs, his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, on December 26, 1964; they celebrated fifty-five years together. They have two daughters, Debra Lanier and Sandy Knafelc (Jeff). Lee, known as Papa, loved hanging out with his three grandsons Cody, Jacob, and O.Q. A visitation will be held from 5:00pm until 7:00pm, Monday, November 23, 2020 in the Jacksonville Memory Gardens Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am, Tuesday, November 24, 2020. The family would like to thank the staff of MD Anderson, especially Dr. John Vu, and Community Hospice for their excellent care, love, and support. Should friends desire, please make a donation to Baptist MD Anderson in lieu of flowers.
