Mary J. Frangos

<p><br /> Mrs. Mary J. Frangos (AKA Koukla) of Spring Hill, Florida, Pennsauken, NJ, and Philadelphia, PA where she was born on May 3, 1925, daughter of the late Zachary C. and Aphrodite Frangos, passed away at age 95 on November 17, 2020 in Spring Hill, Florida. Mary attended South Philadelphia High School for Girls, where she skipped two grades and graduated at age 16. (Her brothers would tease her and tell her it was only because the classroom needed the desk). Mary worked for 19 years with the United States Navy at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard, and her last position with the Navy was at the Naval hospital before leaving to start her family. Later, she worked for over 10 years at the Pennsauken Township Tax office until she retired. Mary was the beloved wife of 62 years to the late Anthony C. Frangos 1928-2019. She was also preceded in death by her late brother Chris Z. Frangos. Mary is survived by her brother Anargeros &ldquo;Eddie&rdquo; Frangos, her two loving sons: Constantine (Dean) A. Frangos, Zachary P. Frangos, and two beautiful grandchildren, Maria Christina Frangos and Thalia Aphrodite Frangos. Mary may have only stood at 5&rsquo;1&rdquo;, but she stood 6&rsquo;5&rdquo; when she made up her mind. The proof of her determination only need be shown by her 30+ years as a cancer survivor and her never-give-up attitude.<br /> She was very progressive for her generation and never took a back seat to anyone. Mary was a mother figure to many and always checked in on family and friends. She played a pivotal role in helping expedite many family members&rsquo; request to migrate from Greece to the US. She had a talent for mathematics and crocheting. If you were lucky enough to get one of her blankets, you should cherish it always since it was made with love. We will all treasure Mary&rsquo;s wonderful wit, stories for days on end about all her adventures growing up, her humor, love of Greece, love of family and kindness. She will be missed by many.<br /> Friends and family members are invited to view&nbsp;&nbsp;on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 from 10:30a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Saint Thomas Greek Orthodox Church, 615 Mercer Street, Cherry Hill, New Jersey, 08002. Her funeral service will follow at 11:30am. Interment in Fernwood Cemetery, Lansdowne, PA. 19050. Vraim Funeral Home is handling arrangements, 66 S. State Road, Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, 19082.&nbsp;</p> <p>Social distancing guidelines apply and a face mask is mandatory to enter the church.
