Pastor Ethel Lee Walker Obituary

ETHEL LEE WALKER was born April 20, 1940, in Tunica, Mississippi. She was one of many children born to the union of Mr. Richard and Mrs. Cennie Wiggins. Ethel Lee's parents, several brothers and sisters, and two sons-in-law, Lamont Avery and LC. Mimes, preceded her in death.

She was raised in Tunica and reared in the MS. public school system. She later moved to Pansa, MS where she met and married John Henry Walker. They moved to St. Louis, MO, and were blessed with 13 children born into their union. Two other children died during childbirth. She was employed by the Parkway School District, owned and operated two Bar-B-Que Restaurants and later became an Ordained Pastor.

Ethel Lee enjoyed spending time with her family. You can say she was a doting Grandmother as she loved to take up time with her numerous grandchildren. She was never one to miss a Grandparents Day event at any of their schools, always ensuring that she arrived early enough to get a good seat...she had to be there for her babies.

Her hobbies consisted of sewing and making floral arrangements.

She leaves to cherish her memories: eight sons, John Henry (Vera) Walker, Jr., Joe Louis (Sandra) Walker, of St. Louis, MO, Eddie Walker, Dallas, TX, Pastor Andre (Angela) Walker, Minneapolis, MN, Timothy (Shanda) Walker, St. Louis, MO, Rabbi Jerry (Cindy) Walker, Min. Floyd (Taralis) Walker, Minneapolis, MN, Bishop Melvin (Vanessa) Walker, Dallas, TX; one step-son, Vincent Spencer, Detroit, MI; five daughters, Evan. Ethel (Baby Sister) Avery, Emma Walker, St. Louis, MO, Mins. Penny (Harold) Jefferson, Minneapolis, MN, Melinda Mimes, Chillnail (Randy) Hartman, St. Louis, MO; fifty-nine grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; two brothers, Richard Wiggins, St. Louis, MO, and Julius Wiggins, Milwaukee, WI; one sister, Queen Esther Crowder; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
