Ruth Witherington Murphy, 94, of Macon, died Thursday, November 19, 2020.  A graveside service will be held Saturday, November 21, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. with Dr. Jake Hall officiating.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Highland Hills Baptist Church, 1370 Briarcliff Rd, Macon, GA 31211.

Mrs. Murphy was a member of Highland Hills Baptist Church and Sara Harrell Sunday School Class.  She was also a member of P.E.O. International, a philanthropic organization where women celebrate the advancement of women.  She loved to travel and was an avid bridge player.  Mrs. Murphy was preceded in death by her husband, William F. Murphy and 9 siblings, Berta Coleman, Joe Witherington, Maude McLin, William Witherington, J.R. Witherington, Wilbur Witherington, Stanley Witherington, Calhoun Witherington, and Charles Witherington.

Mrs. Murphy is survived by her daughters, Karen Hollis of Musella, Georgia and Linda Murphy Fryer (James) of Saint Simmons Island, Georgia; 2 beloved grandchildren, William Hollis of Juliette, Georgia and Charles Hollis (Anna) of Culloden, Georgia; and great-grandchildren, Billy Hollis and Savannah Hollis.
