Bette L. Shoemaker Obituary

Bette (Bet) L. Shoemaker, 96, of Indian Harbour Beach, Fl passed away of natural causes on November 13, 2020. Born on October 17, 1924 in Williamsport, PA, she was the daughter of Rose Ellen and Harry H. Bower. Bet married Howard H. Shoemaker (Shoey) in 1940 and celebrated 54 years of marriage. They raised four children in the Williamsport and Montoursville area before relocating in 1986 to Indian Harbour Beach, FL. Bet was an extremely dedicated mother and grandmother who loved spending time with her family. For many years, she worked outside the home at various Hurr's Ice Cream stores, Stroehmann's Bakery and lastly at Sylvania Photo Flash in Montoursville, PA. As a member of our country's “greatest generation” living through the Great Depression, several wars, amazing technological changes and now the coronavirus pandemic, she always maintained kindness and love and was a blessing to all who knew her. In addition to her mother and husband, Shoey, Bet was predeceased by a half-sister, Patricia Tobin, a half-brother, Jack Tobin; two son-in-laws Kenneth L Webb Jr., and Geoffrey A. Smith; and one grandchild, Nicholas J. Shoemaker. Surviving are daughter Candyce L. Webb of Newton, NC, daughter Melodi A. Shoemaker of Melbourne, Fl, daughter Debra K. Brooks and husband Christopher A. Brooks of Satellite Beach, Fl and son Joel A. Shoemaker of Spring Lake, NC; five grandchildren Kenneth L. Webb III of Williamsport, Pa. and wife Sheri, Kendra L. Sponhouse and husband Robert E. Jr. of Newton, NC, Daphne K. Higgins and husband TJay of Sarasota, FL, Vanessa A. Auth and husband Jon of Malvern, PA, Ashley K. Jackson and husband Aaron of Ofallon, IL; six great grandchildren Korey Webb, Tanner Sponhouse, Trey and Ian Higgins, Pyper and Isabella Jackson; cousin Rose Kathryn Ide of Valdosta, GA.
