James D Swaim Obituary

James Donald “Don” Swaim, Jr. 92, of Fort Smith, Arkansas went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, November 14, 2020 in a local hospital He was born on January 1, 1928 in Van Buren, Arkansas to James Donald and Ruby (Whinery) Swaim, Sr. He was a World War II Army Veteran. Prior to deployment to the Panama Canal Zone he attended Army Finance School. After the Army he worked as office manager for several different businesses, his last employment was with Clark Machinery. He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He played his guitar and sang in a variety of venues throughout the area. He is survived by his daughter, Judy Hodge of Coeur d Alene, Idaho; four sons, Alan Swaim and his wife Debbie of Van Buren, AR, David Swaim and his wife Beth of Van Buren, Arkansas, Richard Swaim and his wife Phyllis of Greenwood, Arkansas and Steven Swaim of Little Rock, Arkansas; five grandchildren, Chris Hodge of Post Falls, ID and Brian Hodge and his wife Tami of Hayden, ID, Randy Swaim and his wife Kelly of Fort Smith, Kelly Curd and her husband Brian of Alma, AR and Kelly Short of Fort Smith; eleven great grandchildren, numerous step children, step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. Cremation was under the direction of Ocker-Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith, Arkansas. Memorial services are planned for next year, COVID permitting.
