Edith Brownfield

Edith Marta Regina Ziegner was born on August 23, 1934 in Liegnitz Germany. Edith passed away on Thursday, November 19, 2020 at age 86; in Good Samaritan Hospital with family by her side. Edith was one of five children born to Marta and Karl Ziegner. At about age 15 she bartered a handpicked basket of berries in order to be guided through the woods in the middle of the night to West Germany; escaping East Germany. She met and married Dwight Evert Brownfield, and a year and a half later moved to the United States entering through Ellis Island on June 11, 1956. Edith spent her former years at Sunset Sewing Company in Seattle, and was an award winning housekeeper at the Sea Tac Red Lion for many years. In her spare time Edith loved to bowl and won many trophies. Edith was always positive, spunky, clever, and enjoyed good hearted tomfoolery. Edith was known for being strong, hard working, and determined. She loved her church in Federal Way – Faith Baptist Church. Edith was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was also humble and did not want to be the center of attention. Edith is survived by sister Annelise Kuhne, sister-in-law Betty Prather, her 6 children, 8 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, many dear friends including her yahtzee playing German crew, her apartment complex pals, and many more loved ones both near and far! Hers was truly a life well lived. Edith will be greatly missed. The love she planted in those she knew will continue to grow for decades.
