Patricia Ann Keiser Obituary

Walk into Patty’s home and it is almost a guarantee that you will be greeted with, “Well, Hello, how are you?  Are you hungry?  What can I get you?”  That was always the first order of business in the Keiser house, to make sure that you were taken care of.

Our Mother, Patricia Ann Keiser, passed away November 17, 2020 at Happy Siesta in Remsen.  Patty, as she was famously known, had been battling dementia for several years, but she will be forever remembered as a beautiful, loving caring person that could tell you a fib with a straight face.

Patty was born in Hawarden, Iowa on January 21, 1930 (or 1931 depending on who you talk to) to Irving (Tobe) and Frances Swift.  She attended Hawarden High School and graduated in 1949.  She, along with many of her friends worked as an Operator at the Phone Company where she was regularly pestered by her kids calling in for no good reason, but to talk to Mom.

On November 19, Patty married Loren (Butch) D. Keiser. They settled in “the house on the hill” and raised their family of 4 kids.  There are so many happy, crazy memories from so many people that are buried with that house, it’s amazing the ground is still not shaking with laughter.

Drive by her house on any Spring, Summer or Fall day and you would find Patty outside, whether it was tending to her plants or sitting on the patio reading a book, outside is where she loved to be.  She spent years playing golf on the Ladies League and enjoying her Bridge Club girls once a month.  If she was inside, you would no doubt find her on the phone with one of her many friends talking about next to nothing for hours.  Card play was not just for her friends…come over anytime and it wouldn’t be long before the cards were pulled out and a hot game of Crazy Rummy was being played by everyone, and God forbid you got caught “fishing” in the discard pile!!

Patty is preceded in death by her loving husband, Butch, whom, we are sure, was waiting by the gates for her. She leaves behind her 4 deeply saddened children, Kim (Sherry) Keiser, Katie (Doug) DeGroot, Jill (Phillip) Cooper and Kristi Keiser; her brother. James (Dick) Swift; 5 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; and her many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Patty lived a full and happy life.  She was truly loved and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.  Rest in peace, you will always be in our hearts.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to a Hospice of your choice.  A Celebration of Life is tentatively scheduled to be held on Mom’s Birthday, January 21, 2021, pending Covid.
