Alan Rotar Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce Alan Rotar, resident of Dawson Creek, British Columbia passed away on November 12, 2020 at the age of 73 years. Alan Dale Rotar was born on March 28, 1947 in Grande Prairie, Alberta. He was the oldest of four children and the only boy. He lived in Grande Prairie till 1964 when the family moved to Dawson Creek. At age 15 Alan was diagnosed with a brain tumor and yet amidst some health issues he finished school and got his first job at the Blue Sky Café. Alan had a love of music and cards and enjoyed playing chess and cards with friends and family. Alan used to read a lot and loved knowing facts about a variety of things. He was known for his generosity and hospitality. Alan moved to Grande Prairie and worked at Canfor, the plywood mill for 14 years. He got married, bought a house, and had 2 children, Candy and Cory; 3 grandchildren, James, Brittany, and Charlotte. Due to health issues Alan moved back to Dawson Creek with his parents. He kept busy with a paper route and worked for his brother in-law doing janitorial work. Alan loved to go out for a meal and snacks. One of his favorite places was the A&W to get a Teen burger, fries, and a root beer! While at Rotary everyone who new him knew he loved his chips and Coke! Alan had the warmest smile and flashed it to anyone that looked his way. Alan had a strong faith in God and showed it in his interest in other people. Alan lived the last 13 years at Rotary Manor. He will be sadly missed.
