Ransom William Walker Obituary

Ransom William Walker, 88, of Paragould, passed away Thursday in Jonesboro. He is the son of the late George and Myrtle Vanpoole Walker. Ransom was retired from Emerson Electric as well as from the Army. He was known for being a giving and kind hearted man who would do anything to help anyone in need. Ransom was a Christian man and was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church. He had a sense of humor that made everyone around him laugh and smile, especially when he was playing his guitar and singing silly songs he made up. If Ransom wasn’t spending time with his precious family, he could be found at the Masonic Lodge or the American Legion as he was a proud longtime member of both. He is also preceded in death by his son, Brad William Walker; grandson, Brock Pitcher; brother, Ron Walker; sisters, Lucille Tabor, Joy McComas, and Louise Wood. Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Shirley Walker, of the home; daughters, Tena Walker, of the home, Connie Pitcher (Benjamin), of Marmaduke, and Cathy Mitchell (Jim), of Paragould; grandchildren, Bradley Smith, Aeron Lovins, Emilee Cook, Lynlee Cook, Jennifer Thompson, Amy Pitcher, Casey Faulkner, and Jessica Sims; twelve great grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. Visitation will be Saturday evening at Heath Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral service will be Sunday at Heath Funeral Home beginning at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at Greene County Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be sent to Arkansas Children’s Hospital. Face masks are required inside the building and friends are asked to practice social distancing.
