Alejandro Revestir Inserto passed away on November 14, 2020 at home with his daughter by his side after battling courageously against COVID-19 for only a week.  He was 87. 

Alejandro, known as Alex, was the youngest child of four children, born on 3 May 1933 to parents Pedro Villaneuva Inserto and Cornelia Ibabao Revestir Inserto in a small town called Lezo, province of Aklan in the island of Panay, Philippines. 

He attended elementary school in Lezo and was later sent to Manila to attend the University of the Philippines high school. Following high school, he studied electrical engineering at the University of the Philippines. While attending the University, he actively participated in an exclusive fraternity for engineering students called Beta Epsilon Fraternity and the UPSCA (University of the Philippines Students Catholic Action). 

After graduating with his bachelor's degree, Alex spent four years working for an electrical company only to realize his life needed adventure.  He moved to Mindanao island for a few years, then moved to Singapore in the 1960s where he met his future wife. Alex married Fathiah Binte Syed-Abdullah Al-Edrus on 12 April 1971. Together, they had three daughters, Tiara, Ayn, and Merle. 

Alex and his family emigrated to the United States in July 1989. He began work in August 1989 at Insul-8 Corporation in California where he served for many years until his retirement in 2002.  He was afforded many opportunities to travel, including relocation to Iowa and Nebraska. As Director of Engineering for Transit, he was often called upon to address high profile business transactions.

After retirement, Alex moved back to California to enjoy a more relaxing lifestyle and turn all of his focus towards being a grandpa. On September 17, 2002, he became a United States citizen, an accomplishment he was very proud of.  He also participated in many activities of his Beta Epsilon fraternity San Francisco Group.  Alex had a deep love for music and enjoyed belting out songs by himself and with others. He loved listening to the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square, The Orchestra at Temple Square and any performances involving brass instruments.  He also loved listening to his daughter, Ayn's jazz music and attending the music performances of his grandchildren.  He was a great dancer and enjoyed sharing this with his grandchildren.  He also enjoyed reading and bragged about his daughter, Tiara's published novel. Alex was very proud of his daughters and grandchildren. He always talked about them to everyone. 

In March 2018, Alex suffered a fall while visiting his hometown, Lezo.  He was also diagnosed with prostate and bone cancer. He returned to the United States and moved in with his youngest daughter, Merle & her family, in Utah.  There, he underwent surgery and began chemotherapy.  His cancer progressed. Alex began hospice care in January 2020.  He continued to enjoy his quality of life while spending time with his daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren until the effects of COVID-19 quickly resulted in his passing.  

Alex is preceded in death by his parents, older brother Ebenezer, older sister Domitila, and son-in-law, Thomas England Steele. He is survived by his wife, Fathiah, daughters Tiara (Murray), Ayn (Jeff), Merle (Robert), and 11 grandchildren Malachi, Oscar, Wyatt, Violeta, Yasmine, Rory, Leo, Rowan, Elana, Harrison, and Hudson. He is also survived by his older brother, Pedro (Bella), niece Sarah, and relatives Insertos, Revestirs, Al-Edrus, Stevens, Steeles, and Pascuals.

Funeral services will be held at the Olpin Mortuary without a viewing in Pleasant Grove, Utah, on November 25, 2020 at 2 PM, Mountain Standard Time. To follow strict COVID state guidelines, the services will not be open to the public to attend in person; however, it will be live streamed for anyone to attend virtually. Following the funeral service, a graveside service will be held at Highland City Cemetery, Highland, Utah at 3 PM Mountain Standard Time.  For those attending the graveside services, it is requested that masks and social distancing be followed as per the state of Utah's guidelines.  The graveside services will also be live streamed online for those who would like to attend virtually.
