Charles Joseph Faistl Jr.
<p>Charles Joseph Faistl Jr., 86 of Matawan passed away Thursday November 19, 2020 at home.</p> <p>He was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, to the late Charles Joseph Faistl Sr and Helen (Spahn) Faistl.</p> <p>He was also predeceased by his beloved wives Ann (Spadola) Faistl and Gemma (Munier) Faistl and siblings Helen Hams and Evelyn Attridge and cousins, Dolores Patterson and Albert Spahn.</p> <p>Charles is survived by his loving children Amy Lenehan and her husband Michael of Matawan and Linda Lassen and her husband Wayne of Abingdon, Maryland; grandchildren Megan and Kaitlyn Lenehan, Wayne Jr., Sarah, Matthew and Rebecca Lassen; and great grandchildren Delilah and Elijah Lassen as well as several nieces and nephews. Charles also leaves behind his beloved sister Marjory Provost.</p> <p>Charlie grew up and lived in Weehawken, what he referred to as "God's Country" He graduated from Weehawken High School, Class of 1952. He then proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He lived most of his life in North Bergen, NJ and then later in Sayreville and his final years in Matawan, NJ with his family. </p> <p>When his time in the service ended, he went on to receive his Bachelor's degree in Business from Rutgers University in Newark, NJ, in 1968. </p> <p>For many years, Charlie worked in sales selling watchbands for Topps in Jersey City and then later for national watchband company, Speidel. He later worked in several municipal and government jobs including Secretary to the Board of Education for North Bergen, State of NJ Department of Veteran's Affairs Memorial Home at Paramus, and ended his career at the Township of North Bergen Office of Veteran's Affairs. He considered himself a civil servant. He was a truly patriotic individual who fully supported Veterans causes. He was instrumental in the development and implementation of Flag Day ceremonies and parades in Hudson County, NJ and continued his work for many years. He was a proud member of American Legion Post 33 in North Bergen. </p> <p>Charlie enjoyed vacationing, spending time in the sun, doing puzzles, playing cards, and a good scotch.
