Maurice "Jerry" Y. LaBarre Obituary

Maurice (Jerry) Y. LaBarre, Jr., 89, of Andover, died of Covid-19 on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen. Jerry was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. He graduated from Redford High and did advanced educational studies at Highland Park College and at NYU. His career covered sales and marketing positions in the Food and Drug industries including time with Kimberly-Clark, Pfizer and Gray Advertising. Retirement in 2001 followed 32 years with Diamond Crystal Specialty Foods in Wilmington, MA where he was the Group Marketing Manager for the firm. Prior to moving to Andover in 1969, the family resided in Detroit MI, Baltimore MD, Farmington MI and Waldwick NJ. He and wife were members at Christ Church in Andover. Jerry was an active participant for the Town of Andover having served as a Voting Warden for many years along with numerous other volunteer projects for the town such as Meals-on-Wheels. Hobbies included golf and gardening, which filled the warm summer months with added enjoyment. Jerry was a very happy outgoing person. He never met a stranger and could be seen all over town greeting his many friends and acquittances. Jerry was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years Sallie Lois LaBarre, their youngest son, Richard, and his unborn child, Jason. Survivors include sons Ronald and his wife Maura (Murphy) LaBarre of Rockport, MA, Roger and his wife Cecile (Quinn) of Palenville, NY, Russell and his wife Barbara (Popadak) of Andover, daughter in law Robin of Andover, brother Brian LaBarre and brother in law Eric Erickson. He adored and cherished his grandchildren (Matthew, Stephen, Cindy, James, Stacy and Toni) and was blessed with 11 great grandchildren. The family would like to express its appreciation to the medical staff at Holy Family Hospital for their care and compassion. For the health of family and friends, there will not be a viewing. A private virtual service is being planned.
