DURHAM: Robert “Bob” C. Balltzglier, Sr., 81, passed away on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at Carver Living Center in Durham. He was born in Benson, NC to the late Hess Conley Balltzglier and Lessie Brown Johnson. In addition to his parents, Mr. Balltzglier was also predeceased by his daughter, Debbie Sue Balltzglier; brother, Howard Balltzglier; and sisters, Hilda Woods, Mildred Thomas. Mr. Balltzglier moved to Durham when he was 17 years old where he met the love of his life. He as the former owner of Clean Septic Tank Service and retired after 25 years in Sales for Textilease Corporation. Mr. Balltzglier was a member of Northern Free Will Baptist Church in Bahama and was a member of the Ruth Johnson Sunday School Class. He loved his children and grandchildren dearly and enjoyed spending time with them. He also played softball for many years and loved all sports. Mr. Balltzglier is survived by his wife of 63 years, Joyce Peed Balltzglier; daughters, Patty Balltzglier Hudson (Edison), Teresa Balltzglier Valzonis (Richard); son, Robert Conley Balltzglier Jr. (Gena); grandchildren, Trey Jeffries (Georgine), Amanda K. Gupton, Courtney Ruth Brown (Jason), Conley Eugene Balltzglier (Lauren), Stuart Valzonis, Rebecca Valzonis; great-grandchildren, Theodore Robert Jeffries, Genevieve Christina Jeffries; brothers, Donald Balltzglier, Harold Balltzglier; sister, Sue Flynn; and many nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 21st at Northern Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Norman Gordon officiating. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, face coverings and social distancing are required for all services. We ask that anyone experiencing cold/flu-like symptoms to stay home.
