Lawrence Albert Fuqua Obituary

Lawrence Albert Fuqua Sr., 91, Sandusky, entered into eternal rest Tuesday evening, November 17, 2020, at Promedica Toledo Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Brother Fugua, affectionately known as Bubba was born on April 19, 1929, in Nashville, TN to Samuel James and Jessie (Creel) Fuqua. Bubba attended Pearl High School where he was involved in various school activities. He was baptized at a very young age in Nashville at the Jefferson Street Baptist Church, and upon relocating to Sandusky became a life-long faithful member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church. He was very proud of the fact that he was an usher at Ebenezer for over 50 years. He later united with the Harvest House Missionary Baptist Church and the Eagles Nest Church International. Bubba loved going to church, and while hospitalized he had a conversation with his son, Larry, rededicating his life to the Lord. He was employed by the former New Departure Hyatt, and the Ford Motor Co. in Lorain, retiring after 28 years of service. Bubba loved working in his yard and could be seen working late into the evening. A passion for automobiles, he and his wife were known for their classy fleet of cars. He enjoyed politics, sports, especially baseball, and avid fan of the Cleveland Indians, and before his passing he was extremely excited to Joe Biden was becoming President Elect. To his grandchildren he was known as Bubs, he was extremely proud of his grandchildren, always advising them whether they wanted it or not, and even if they did not want it they still took it, and quote him today for what he said. He was one to never meet a stranger, would talk to anyone, any place, any time. He was joined in holy matrimony, to the love of his life, Evelyn Jean Crump on March 8, 1947, in Franklin, TN, they were married 71 years. To this union they shared the joy of five children. Bubba Leaves to rejoice in all of the many lifetime memories his children, Jeanne Yvonne (Danny) Cleveland, Lawrence Albert “Larry” (Allean) Fuqua Jr., Derrell Anthony (Carolyn) Fuqua, and Brett Lamont (Pam) Fuqua; grandchildren, Lori, Scott, Larry III, Denitra, Faruq, Kristina, Jeannie, Brett Jr., Brock, LaDonte, Derrielle, step grandchildren, Charles and Jessicia; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Jean (Crump) Fuqua on September 3, 2018; parents; son, Kevin Fuqua; and a grandson, Chris. Due to the COVID Pandemic a private family visitation and service will be held. Burial will take place in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
