Keith E. Ulmer Strasburg, Colorado Obituary

Keith E. Ulmer

Keith E. Ulmer, 66, of Bennett, CO, surrounded by his wife and seven children, went to be with the Lord November 17, 2020. He was born July 4, 1954 in Montoursville, PA, the son of Pierson and Dettiebelle (Westbrook) Ulmer. Keith graduated from Montoursville High School in 1972. He enlisted in the Army where he served as Private First Class and was honorably discharged in 1975. After his discharge, he began working as a carpenter, a trade and passion he learned from his father. In January 1981, he married his beloved wife, Mary (O’Brien), and moved to Strasburg, CO. In August 1983, they moved south of Bennett, CO where they raised their family of seven children. Keith was self-employed for most of his career and his touch of craftsmanship can be found on projects large and small throughout the community. For the latter part of his career, Keith worked for Adolfson and Peterson until his retirement in 2019. He was an exceptional and meticulous carpenter for 45 years. He was a devoted Christian and member of the Grace Baptist Church in Deer Trail, CO and was a chaplain at the Truck Stop Chapel in Watkins, CO, seeking to show those who were constantly on the move, the invariable, unmovable treasure of Jesus Christ. Keith enjoyed teaching his children and grandchildren how to fish, and the importance of a cold glass of sweet tea, vanilla malt, or hand churned homemade ice cream on a hot summer day. Keith leaves to cherish his memory Mary (O’Brien) Ulmer, his beloved wife of 39 years; his children Amy (Phil) Doerner of Thornton, CO, William (Joey) Kuhn of Kiowa, CO, Brian (Tracy) Ulmer of Westminster, CO, Timothy (Susan) Ulmer of Kiowa, CO, Christine (Fred) Weisenborn of Keenesburg, CO, Laura (Justin) Perry of Kimball, NE, Daniel (Sandi) Ulmer of Kiowa, CO; brothers Gerald (Angela) Ulmer of Turbotville, PA, Roger (Christine) Ulmer of Windsor, CO; sisters Marlene (Donald) Pepperman of Montoursville, PA, Karen (Tony) Harding of Williamsport, PA; 18 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
