Beverly Lone Bear

Beverly Cherie “Spook” Lone Bear “Lady Who Cares”, 55, of Twin Buttes, ND was called home to be with the good Lord and her Darcy on Tuesday, November 17, 2020. Services will be held at 11:00 AM CST on Saturday, November 21, 2020 at Twin Buttes Memorial Hall, Twin Buttes with Fr. Joseph Evinger officiating. Burial will follow at Holen Cemetery.

A private family wake will be held.

Beverly was born on December 6, 1964 to Linda Holen and Melvin Starr in Dickinson, ND. She graduated from Twin Buttes Elementary School and Halliday High School. Bev fell in love with Darcy Lone Bear in her teen years. They were together for 13 years before getting married. The couple spent 30 incredible years together before Darcy left this world in 2012. By her senior year in high school, the good Lord called home their first born son, Timothy. Bev went to FBCC for many years. Following FBCC, she started her career as a paraprofessional with Twin Buttes School until 2012. Bev and Darcy welcomed their miracle baby, Stacy Ann Louise on July 3, 1985. Stacy was the light of their life, until their grandbaby Kaydence Jazzlyn was born on November 17, 2005 along with Kyler and Keegan. Bev loved all of her grandbabies and stole them from their parents often.

Some of Bev’s enjoyments in life were playing softball (the best player around!). She loved being with Darcy at the lake to catch fish for a fish fry. She enjoyed playing basketball with her sister and traveling with the Hackers just for the fun of it. She also loved to play horseshoes with Darcy and the family, playing darts for the Red Horse Tavern (“Win or Lose, We Booze”) and hanging out with her sisters, brothers, nephews and friends. Hanging out with Bev was an event, there was always laughing and doing crazy stuff.

Bev loved everyone and made everyone around her feel special. Everybody was her favorite person. She was a second mom to Annie Cayla and James Beston along with many more. She often spoke of the good Lord, quoting Bible verses and telling people to pray and helping those who needed more understanding of the Bible. Bev was also known for giving her loved ones crazy nicknames, for example: Nemo, Spody Lynn, Heifer, J-Nug, B-Bug, Heavy D, Shay Shay, Kat-Rice, Maria Lavo, Twin, Black Betty, Dream Arrow, Lightning, Bri-Cherie, P-Ness and many, many more.

Beverly is preceded in death by her parents, Linda Holen and Melvin Starr; her husband, Darcy Lone Bear; her son, Timothy Lone Bear; maternal grandparents, Roy Swede and Agnes (Medicine Stone) Holen; paternal grandparents, John Starr and Jenny (Spotted Horse) Starr; uncles, Milton Starr, Gordon Starr, Leighton Holen, Hjalmer Holen, Eugene Holen, Sr., Gilbert Starr, Sr., Wilson Starr, Charlie Malnourie, and Donald Malnourie; aunties, Sharlie (Starr) Benson, Opal Lincoln, Cynthia Starr, Cleo Holen, Bessie (Holen) Starr, Melissa Holen, and Vernette Holen; cousins, Clarence John Starr, Clinton “Judge” Starr, Sandra Starr, Jennifer Starr; and one nephew, Michael Greaves.

Bev is survived by daughter, Stacy Wounded Face; grandchildren, Kaydence Huntsalong, Kyler Ann Wounded Face and Keegan Wounded Face; uncle, Wendall Starr; aunties, Svea (Louie) Lizer and Coya (Mickey) Holen; sisters, Melissa Starr, Karissa (Juan) Diaz-Corral, Garnette Howard, Vernette Wolf, Vanessa (Traci) Holen; brothers, Hank (Geneva) Starr, Eric (Wendy) Howard and Valaire Holen; Godchildren, Jacob Bosley, Jesse Gillette, Joseph Howard, Leighton Fox, Shayne Alcon, Mathew Holen and Garnette Howard; and many more cousins, nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
