Louis Stargel

<p>Louis Stargel, of Russell Springs, Kentucky, passed away on November 17, 2020, at his home.&nbsp; He was 77 years of age.</p> <p>Born on April 8, 1943, in Russell County, Kentucky, he was a son of the late Elvis and Lorene Withers Stargel.&nbsp; Louis was retired from the United States Navy after seventeen and one-half years of service. During this time, he served during the Vietnam War.&nbsp; Louis enjoyed fishing, traveling, and spending time spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.</p> <p>Survivors include his wife, Mary Carter Stargel of Russell Springs, whom he wed on December 19, 1966; one son, Louis (and Tonya) Stargel, Jr. of Russell Springs, one daughter, Cindy Stargel of Russell Springs; four grandchildren, Crystal, Tiffany, Madison, and Nicholas; and eight great-grandchildren, Jaxon, Kaeden, Azlynn, Ayla, Baylee, Chloe, Arlo, and Owen. Louis is also survived by three brothers; Dennis (and Pamela) Martin of Louisville, Jimmy (and Kay) Stargel of Glasgow, Roger (and Gina) Stargel of Russell Springs; and three sisters, Sandra (and Harry) Hainey of Nancy, Janet (and Sam) Loy of Russell Springs, and Debbie (and Tommy) Whittle of Russell Springs.</p> <p>In addition to his parents, Louis was preceded in death by a daughter, Sherri Stargel; and two brothers, Earl Wayne Stargel and David Stargel.</p> <p>Due to COVID restrictions, graveside services will be held privately for family only Saturday, November 21, 2020, at New Friendship Cemetery with Brother Charles Edwards officiating.&nbsp; Burial will follow the service with full military honors by the Russell County Honor Guard.</p> <p>Social distancing guidelines must be followed by everyone in attendance.&nbsp; Facial coverings are required.</p> <p>Louis&rsquo;s funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Bernard Funeral Home.
