Eileen Marie Scheuer Obituary

Born Eileen Marie Past in Seattle, Mom attended St John’s Elementary School and Holy Names Academy. She was proceeded in death by her husband Dick, daughter Peggy and grandson Toby. During our younger years, mom taught us good manners, respect, and kindness by the way she herself lived. She also reminded us to take care of the things that she and dad had worked so hard to provide for us. She was incredible in keeping things going, providing for all our needs and just being mom. Losing dad at 70 was really hard on her and she “missed him every day.” After he died, she really seemed to be more outspoken and independent in her thoughts and actions. She spoke often about the underserved and was frustrated that she couldn’t do more to help. Mom always tried to connect with people and would make people feel comfortable by starting with a compliment on a sweater or maybe noticing a necklace. Although we encouraged her to ask for her needs to be met, she always felt that others needed more help than she did. “I don’t want to bother them.” The last nine months were tough for her in that she could not be with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren in person and was limited in her social activities at her assisted living facility. We are so thankful for the respect and tremendous support she received from Cogir Mill Creek. We all miss her kind spirit and just being with her, but will always remember her great sense of humor and all that she modeled for us. Her spirit will live on. We promise. That is the least we can do for the greatest mom ever. Eileen is survived by four children, Rick Scheuer (Teri), Lynn Lodwig (Steve), Terry Scheuer (Linda) and Beth Hopkins (Dave). She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. In remembrance of our beloved Mom, donations may be given to Evergreen Hospice. A memorial service for Eileen will be scheduled when safety permits.
