Norman Deplaedt Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dad and grandpa.  Norman Deplaedt passed away peacefully with family by his side on November 16, 2020 at the age of 84.

He was pre-deceased by the love of his life, his wife of 46 years Wanda in 2018, and his brother Roy.

Survived by children:  Darrell (Bonnie), Cheri (Rick), Michelle (Dean), Mike (Cheryl), Kerry (Esther) and Kelly (Joan).   Grandchildren:  Nicole, Holly, Beau, Jordan (Latieshia), Natesha, Janaya, Daylan, Stephanie (Arnie), Taylor and Zaharo.  Great Grandchildren:  Brooklynn, Mason, Harper, Addilyn, Maya, Brianna, Cadence, and his brother George.

Norman was born in Melita, Manitoba and later moved to Port Alberni to look for work.  He was employed at the Stewart & Hudson and then the City of Port Alberni until his retirement.  Following his retirement, he and Wanda relocated to Qualicum Beach.  The two of them enjoyed travelling.  They took many vacations throughout Canada and the USA, as well as cruises taking them to Alaska, Russia, Panama Canal, Mediterranean, China, Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii and South America to name a few.

Some of his hobbies included reading, gardening, attending bluegrass festivals and listening to music.   His grandchildren and great grandchildren were his pride and joy and you could always find him with the biggest smile on his face.  He will be missed dearly everyday.

The family would like to thank the staff at Rainbow Gardens for the amazing care and kindness given to our dad and grandpa during his stay.

Due to Covid no service will be held.
