Dorothy Ann Collins, age 86, of 45 Moore St., Stratford, passed away comfortably in her own bed on Wednesday, November 19, 2020. Born in Wroxeter, Ontario, daughter and 13th child of Irvin and Albertine Durst, Dorothy (or Dot as she preferred) survived her husband Robert (Bob) Ernest who died in 2008. She passed peacefully, accompanied by her two children, Marna Jackson of Seaforth and Marc Collins of Toronto. She was very proud of her four grandchildren Keiryn, Kody, Anjali and Jasmine and was able to say good-bye to each one of them and many other loved ones, on her own terms. Those visits included two with her only surviving sibling, sister Mae Ebel. Diagnosed with advanced stage pancreatic cancer October 23rd, Dorothy lived her life to the fullest in her short remaining time. She had a clear checklist of things to do and say and experience in the time left and she was pleased to have achieved every item on her list. She also got her last wish, which was to not linger long once “the decline” happened and she could no longer be her recognizable self. Her period of discomfort was less than a day before transitioning to palliative sedation. She would like everyone to remember her as she was right up to the very last possible moment. The accompanying photo was taken just one week prior to her passing.
