Kathryn Sue Beals, 64, of Grantsville, MD, died Wednesday, November 18, 2020, at UPMC Western Maryland, Cumberland, MD. Born February 21, 1956, in Meyersdale, PA, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Rhoda (Miller) Maust. She was preceded in death by one son, Shawn Beals; two brothers, Oscar and Edgar Maust. Mrs. Beals was a Clinical Addictions Supervisor for the Garrett County Health Department and also worked 14 years at both the Casselman Restaurant and Penn Alps Restaurant as a waitress and supervisor. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Frostburg State University and her Master’s Degree from UMBC. She is survived by her husband, Mark Dean Beals; one son, Mark Beals, Clear Spring, MD; one brother, Arthur Maust, OH; three sisters, Louise Maust and Leona Maust, both of Grantsville; Norma Stewart, Indianapolis, IN; two granddaughters, Addison and Ava. At her request, she will be cremated and no services are planned at this time. Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, is assisting the family with cremation arrangements.
