Phyllis Ruth Snyder Obituary

SNYDER, Phyllis Ruth (Bell) - Age 73, of Watford, passed away, at home, on November 17, 2020. Born in Watford, she was the daughter of the late Crosfield and Jesse (Spidle) Bell. She grew up in New Germany and spent her youth playing sports, reading, and making long-lasting friendships. As a young woman, Phyllis married Bryden, and she was a devoted wife to him for 55 years. During their life together, Phyllis worked at a variety of jobs, volunteered in the many communities in which she lived, worshipped as a member of the United Church of Canada, and raised a family. She went above and beyond as a cook, seamstress, entertainer, caregiver, parishioner, and storyteller. “To make a long story short…” she was one of a kind! Everyone who was lucky enough to be part of Phyllis’s life will always remember her kindness, generosity, and devotion to them. In addition to her husband, Phyllis is survived by her sons, Curtis (Krystal), Chelsea; Scott (Lisa), Milton; Neil, at home. She was a very proud grandmother to BreAnne, Leah, Daniel, Rebecca, Isaac, and Colin. She is also survived by her brother, James (Margaret) Bell, sister, Florence Wright and many extended family members and special friends. Phyllis was predeceased by a son, Troy and a daughter, Cathy. Phyllis received support from many people during the past several months, including her family and her wide circle of friends. Special thanks go to her many doctors, nurses, the VON, and the Nova Scotia Health Authority Palliative Care services. Her greatest source of comfort and support was her husband, Bryden, who devoted himself to her until the end of her life. No visitation at the funeral by request. A private service will be held with Rev. David Lutes officiating. Interment will be at a later date. To honour Phyllis’s memory, donations to Epworth United Church, New Germany, would be greatly appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home, 4895 Highway 10, New Germany where on-line condolences, messages and donations may be made by visiting www.sweenysfuneralhome.com.
