Samuel Raymond Morris

MORRIS, Samuel Raymond, age 75, of Xenia, passed away Tuesday, November 17, 2020. Samuel was born July 8, 1945 in Xenia, OH to Burdett and Marie (Tumbleson) Morris. He was a 1965 graduate of Wilmington High School, and went on to work for NCR and then International Navistar for 31 years. Samuel later worked for both Xenia and Kettering school systems, and would give his spare time and work at the election polls. Samuel had a love for pocket knives and ceramics, winning 2nd place for his prized ceramic eagle. Samuel enjoyed fishing with his family, vacationing in the Smokey Mountains, and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed making bad dad jokes and watching Westerns. He is preceded in death by his parents, and brother-in-law, Denny Burry. Samuel is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Connie; children, Tamara (Harry III), Burchell, Heather (J.) Eldridge, and David; grandchildren, Benjamin, Evangeline, and James; brothers, Ricky (Beverly), John (Sharon), and Bob (Marsha); sisters, Beverly Burrey, and Shirley (Ken) Roush, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Kettering Medical Center. Also a big thank you to Rick, Henry, Michelle, and Regina from Kettering Transportation. Family will greet friends Monday, November 23 5:00pm-7:00pm at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, November 24 at 11:00am at Dayton Avenue Baptist Church, 1121 Dayton Ave., Xenia, OH 45385. Burial in Woodland Cemetery, Xenia. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Dayton Avenue Baptist Church or St. Jude Children Hospital, 1404 Goodale Blvd. #200 Columbus, OH 43212.
