Charlotte LaVose Tuchscherer Obituary

Charlotte LaVose Tuchscherer, the daughter of Phillip and Mildred (Anderson) Ovitt was born on April 23, 1936 in Rugby, North Dakota. She died at the age of 84 years on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at the Heart of America Care Center in Rugby, North Dakota. Charlotte was reared in the home of her parents and was the second oldest of eight children. She attended school in Rugby. She worked for a time at Ideal Café in Rugby as a waitress and that is where she met her husband, Joe after he got out of the service. Joe and Charlotte were united in marriage on November 26, 1952 at Little Flower Catholic Church in Rugby. The couple moved to the farm northwest of Rugby where they farmed, raised their five children, had cows, chickens and grew their garden. Charlotte stayed busy raising their children, cooking meals for hired men and always entertaining family for the holidays. She was an excellent cook and loved to have everyone come to their home. Charlotte lost her husband, Joe to a tragic tractor train accident in June of 1969, which left her widowed with five young children. Two years later, she entered a marriage, which was later dissolved. Charlotte was a member of the Little Flower Catholic church, Christian Mothers, the American Legion Auxiliary, the Rugby Eagles Auxiliary and her and Joe were also on a bowling league. She did hair for several years, mostly giving perms at the hospital and at her home. Charlotte was famous for her apple pies and anyone lucky enough to get one would tell you they were the best they had ever tasted! All of the children and grandchildren loved receiving them. In the summer, you could find her out mowing the lawn once a week and maybe more and many would comment on what a beautiful yard she had kept and she took a lot of pride in her yard. She lived on the farm for 63 years and it was very hard for her to leave and make her new home in town. She was always positive, a hard worker and a strong woman, who her family will miss dearly. Charlotte is survived by her five children, Martin of Williston, Valerie (Mitch) Wainwright of Battle Ground, WA, Beverly (Dan) Schneibel of Fargo, Marlene (Ken) Schaan of Rugby and Joe (Janelle) Tuchscherer of Rugby; 13 grandchildren, Chris, Joey & Tanner Tuchscherer, Jim (Becka) and Eric Wainwright, Jesse (Jason) Monke, JoVal (Jason) Wettlaufer, Isaac (Kory) Schaan, Riley (Erin) Schaan, Blake (Heather) Schaan, Brett Schaan, Brady & Hunter Tuchscherer; 22 great grandchildren; sisters, Barbara Willenbring of Bismarck, Doris Page of Bismarck, Marlene Ovitt of Minot and Janice Ovitt of Minot; a brother, Tom Ovitt of Kansas; sisters-in-law, Donna Ovitt of Coolidge, Arizona and Edith Ovitt of Minot; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by, her husband, Joe; parents Mildred and Phil Ovitt; brothers, Charles and Jack; brothers-in-law, Myron Page, Bob Willenbring, Ray Hoffart and Dennis Bloomster and sister-in-law, Joy Ovitt. Mass of Christin Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24 at Little Flower Catholic Church in Rugby with burial in the church cemetery. Father Franklin Miller, Celebrant.
