John "Jack" Martin Drust Obituary

John “Jack” Martin Drust, 78, of Myrtle Beach, SC entered Eternal Life peacefully on Friday, November 13, 2020 at his residence. He was born December 14, 1941 in Edwardsville, PA son of the late John Drust and Stella Drust Cook.

Survivors include his loving wife, Rosalie Drust of Myrtle Beach, SC; his twin daughters, Jacqueline Leehan and her husband Gene of Grapevine, TX and their children Lauren and Matthew; Julianne Herman of Allentown, PA and her sons Michael, Eric and John Sikorsky; Rosalie’s children, Michele Marsh and her husband Eric of Emmaus, PA and their sons Bobby, Matt and Alex;  Anthony Pisano and his wife April of Summerville, SC and their sons Richard and Anthony;  Anne Marie Chuss and her husband David of Berwyn, PA and their children Katie, Tommy and Mia Rose.

Jack was a Certified Welder who taught welding at Purdue, Indiana, had his own fabricating business in Wilkes-Barre, PA and retired from Scranton Electric Heating & Cooling Company as a HVAC Technician in December of 2004.  He began his DJ Career as a hobby in 1994 when he established and incorporated the non-profit Anthracite Rose Western Dance Club.  His hobby became a successful business.  He joined the ADJA and did many workshops to improve his skills as a DJ. In 1999 he was the first DJ in NEPA to have his music computerized.  He was the treasurer of USA Dance in the NEPA Chapter and with Rosalie, the chapter president, arranged to have the chapter members dance at the local PBS TV station.   They did sixteen shows each year that were taped and aired on Saturday evenings.  Jack & Rosalie held a ballroom dance with 100+ dancers in attendance every Wednesday evening. In 2012 he and his wife became permanent residents of the Myrtle Beach area.

“Jack was a professional DJ.  He and Rosalie were known throughout the Myrtle Beach area.  They taught Line Dance Lessons at the Robert H. Reed Recreation Center in Myrtle Beach where they also held social dances for the community as well. 

Jack attended St. Michael Catholic Church where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #8980 and the Knights of Columbus Assembly #2107, serving with the Honor Guard.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Michael Catholic Church. Dates will be announced when arrangements are finalized.

Jack battled lung cancer for more than three years with dignity and courage.  In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial contributions in Jack's memory be made to the MUSC Foundation/Hollings Cancer Center at 18 Bee Street, MSC 450, Charleston, SC 29425, (please designate "Cancer Fund")
